The Account
The village shutters were already closed when the bells began.
Then came the chains.
We found Krampus in the square with a sack over one shoulder and very little interest in conversation.
Negotiations were tense.
We returned with the licorice.
The village returned to normal by morning.
Christmas survived.
Barely.
